Fire
and Rescue Services Department
of the Government of
Tamil Nadu is entrusted with the
task of fire fighting and rescue
operations in times of emergency.
“We Serve to Save” is the lofty
objective of the department and
every one of the personnel in the
department has the onerous task of
saving the people in distress. It is
the endeavor of the department to
ensure that the delivery of services
to the public reaches with least
delay.
Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue
Services Department headed by a
Director in the rank of Director
General of Police has a strength of
6801 personnel and operates through
302 Fire and Rescue Services
Stations including 2 Rescue Stations
located in all the 33 districts in
Tamil Nadu.
The main task of the fire fighters
is to save people and their
belongings in any calamity either
natural or man-made. Hence the fire
personnel have enormous physical
strength and agile mental ability to
meet the challenges posed by such
calamities. State Fire Training
Centre at Tambaram takes care of the
need of training boys and also
in-service training.
To ensure fire safety, prevention
steps are required to be taken for
which creation of awareness to
public is an important duty. We
appeal to the industrialists, owners
and occupants of multi-storied
buildings, commercial complexes,
educational institutions, cracker
manufactures etc., to follow the
fire safety norms to ensure safer
society.
